Student Name: Rose Tehrani

Major(s): Biology and Spanish

Bio: Rose Tehrani is a fourth year double majoring in Biology and Spanish. Through her time spent at the Oxford and Atlanta campuses, she has enjoyed taking various courses such as Spanish in the US, Human Rights in Spain, and Translation Theory and Practice, as well as studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain, for (half of) the Spring 2020 semester. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys serving as the Outreach Chair for Emory Pride, tutoring ESL students in English and Biology, and writing for the Emory Study Abroad Blog. She aims to continue combining her love for both STEM and language-learning as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Spain next year. Shen then plans to pursue a career in translation or bilingual education, or perhaps both! She is eternally grateful to all the kindhearted professors and peers in the department who have taught her the power of language-learning as a bridge to form community and mutual understanding. Just as the department has instilled in her, Rose hopes to continue jumping outside of her comfort zone, enjoying the process of learning, and staying true to herself along the way.
